We’re builders who respect traditional craftsmanship. So we designed and undertook a renovation that’s brought 101-year-old Murtong House in one of Toowoomba’s oldest suburbs into 21st Century, without sacrificing its original beauty.

The timber colonial style home in Newton had minor work done in the past but was largely untouched. To modernise the home we’ve:

  • Demolished the old outhouse laundry and built a new internal laundry
  • Added a timber deck
  • Replaced the metal roof with brand new zincaume roof
  • Built a brand new kitchen with walk-in pantry, dishwasher and new oven
  • Removed a wall to create an open plan kitchen and living area
  • Resurfaced all the wet areas
  • Upgraded the bathrooms.

We restricted our treatment of the interior decorative gables, leadlight windows, fireplace, and original timber floorboards to light maintenance to retain the authentic architectural style of the house. The home is now a modern, welcoming space characterised by timber finishes and quality fixtures that add unique charm.
